How do I register to vote abroad?
South Africans living abroad who is first-time voters, can register online @ www.elections.org.za
South Africans who are already registered, you can update their registration details and change your voting station @ www.elections.org.za
Online registration is possible (24/7) until the elections are proclaimed. The proclamation by President Cyril Ramaphosa closes the voters’ roll, meaning you cannot register after this date.
You are also able to scan the QR code to register for the first time or to change your voting station (24/7).
The IEC has called on all South Africans abroad to register to vote in the 2024 general election.
To register to vote abroad online, you will need a South African identity document (either a green ID book, a smartcard ID or a valid temporary ID certificate) and a valid South African passport.
Can I register to vote at my local embassy or consulate?
Yes, on 27 and 28 January, you can visit South African Embassy in Beijing to register to vote and/or update your details.
To register in person at South African Embassy, you will need a South African identity document (either a green ID book, a smartcard ID or a valid temporary ID certificate) and a valid South African passport (if you are awaiting your passport from South Africa, you can still register in person, but must have it when you want to vote).
